Spirit of the Spirit

We design and illustrate for many industries, but the most challenging and the most rewarding is conceptualizing art for beverage and music brands.

For instance, creating an illustration for a Chardonnay is comparable to translating the essence of a song. But, the visual interpretation uses taste as a springboard: oaky, fruity, crisp. In music, the image and design has to visually convey auditory emotions: moody, soulful, experimental.

Ultimately, the spirit’s label and packaging have to capture not only the consumer’s eye at point of purchase by visually interpreting the essence of the flavor, but they also have to thread through the vineyard's or distillery’s brand identity, creating a cohesive synergy of the product line. This also applies to music.

We love collaborating with our clients. It enables us to adopt different methodologies. From the complex layering of Iron Smoke’s modern-Victorian whiskey, to Lucid Wines’ emotive style, to the graphic approach of Bomb wine, the art we create is aligned with our client’s overarching vision for their brand. And then there’s the flavor! The pour, the swirl, the aroma, the sip—and let's not forget the lingering impression. All that has to be communicated into one visual. But, oh, how fun it is getting the product to truly understand the full experience. Cheers!
